Zhang Xiao’s photographs depict an everyday life shared by both authority figures and individuals. At the same time, he documents in detail the attempts to reclaim traditions beyond Western lifestyles, up to their destruction. In this way, the artist unveils the narrative discrepancy that appears between his own environment and the individuals who go through it, while experiencing these changes personally.
